What is an Ultrasound?
An ultrasound scan, sometimes called a sonogram, is a procedure that uses high frequency sound waves to create an image of part of the inside of the body, such as the heart.
As sound waves are used rather than radiation, the procedure is safe. Ultrasound scans are commonly used during pregnancy to produce images of the baby in the womb, and to help diagnose the causes of pain, swelling, and infection in the body's internal organs.
This procedure requires little to no special preparation. Your doctor will instruct you on how to prepare, including whether you should refrain from eating or drinking beforehand. Leave jewelry at home and wear loose, comfortable clothing.
We are pleased to announce that we now offer a wide range of ultrasound imaging services. Our new state of the art General Electric Ultrasound machine is a fully featured ultrasound system designed for general radiography use and cardiovascular procedures.
It is also specialized for use in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with particular features for real-time 3D and 4D imaging, including extraordinary HD live imaging. These services will be provided to you by a great team consisting of two radiologists, a cardiologist, a gynaecologist, and a urologist.
