Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how Ta' Pinu Pharmacy uses them on our website, and your choices regarding cookies.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to the website operators. Cookies can be "session" cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or "persistent" cookies, which remain on your device for a set period.
Browsers also offer local storage and session storage, which work in a similar way but are never sent to the website's servers. The rules that apply to cookies apply to these too, so we list both below.
How We Use Cookies
Browsing this website as a patient does not set any cookies at all. Booking an appointment does not set one either.
What we do use is browser storage, which is a similar technology. It keeps a few small preferences on your own device, such as whether you have already dismissed a notice, so that we do not show it to you again. Nothing in it identifies you, and none of it is sent to us or to anyone else.
Cookies are used in one place only: the staff login area, which patients never see. We do not use analytics, advertising or marketing cookies anywhere, and we do not track you across other websites.
What We Store
Browser storage on the public website
These are not cookies. They are stored on your device by your browser and are never sent to our servers. Clearing your browsing data removes all of them.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | How to remove it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cookieConsent | Local storage | Remembers that you have seen and dismissed the cookie notice, so it is not shown again | Until you clear your browsing data | Clear site data for this website in your browser settings |
| tempHoursDismissed | Local storage | Remembers that you have dismissed a temporary opening-hours notice for the day | Until you clear your browsing data | Clear site data for this website in your browser settings |
| bookingBannerDismissed | Session storage | Remembers that you have dismissed the online-booking banner | Until you close the browser tab | Close the tab |
| rotaWeekNotifDismissed | Session storage | Remembers that you have dismissed the pharmacy rota notice | Until you close the browser tab | Close the tab |
Cookies on the staff login area
These are set only when a member of pharmacy staff or a healthcare professional signs in. They are strictly necessary for signing in securely and cannot be switched off. If you are a patient, you will never receive them. Over HTTPS these cookie names carry a __Secure- or __Host- prefix.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | How to remove it |
|---|---|---|---|
| authjs.session-token | Keeps a signed-in staff member signed in | 30 days | Sign out, or clear site data |
| authjs.csrf-token | Protects the login form against cross-site request forgery | Session | Close the browser, or clear site data |
| authjs.callback-url | Remembers which page to return to after signing in | Session | Close the browser, or clear site data |
Analytics & Marketing Cookies
We do not use any analytics, advertising or marketing cookies, and we do not sell or share your data with advertising networks.
Third-Party Content
The map on our home page and contact page is provided by Google. Google is a third party with its own privacy practices, so we do not load it automatically. The map appears as a placeholder showing our address, and only loads if you press Show map.
If you press it, Google receives your IP address and the address of the page you are on, and may set its own cookies in your browser. That is Google acting for its own purposes, not on our behalf. If you would rather not, use the "open in Google Maps" link next to the placeholder instead, or simply do not press the button. See Google's privacy policy.
No other third-party content is embedded on this website.
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
When you first visit our website you will see a short notice telling you what we store. It is there to inform you, not to ask permission, because nothing we store on the public site requires your consent. Dismissing it simply stops it appearing again.
The one real choice on this website is the map. It does not load until you press Show map, so if you never press it, Google receives nothing from your visit.
You can also control and delete cookies and browser storage through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View what cookies are stored and delete them individually
- Block third-party cookies
- Block cookies from specific websites
- Block all cookies
- Delete all cookies when you close your browser
Clearing this site's storage will not stop you browsing or booking. It will only mean that notices you have already dismissed appear once more. Blocking cookies entirely will prevent pharmacy staff from signing in to the staff area.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we introduce new cookies. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. If we begin using analytics or marketing cookies in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting those cookies.
